Locality:The Highland County Fair is Virginia’s longest continually running county fair. Focusing on fun for the entire family, this event features a carnival and midway with games and rides for all ages, a demolition derby and a truck and tractor-pulling contest. Additional activities include livestock shows, a dog show, a horse show, clogging, music and much more. This fair is ended on Saturday with a fireworks display.

Locality:The Douthat State Park Campsite Cok Off is located in the Whispering Pines Campground. $5 Admission fee for Spectators. Children ages 10 & under enter free. Admission includes tastings from the 22 competing teams. Devils Backbone Brewing Company of Lexington, VA will have their signature craft beers onsite Saturday for spectators to enjoy with the purchase of beer tickets for $3 each. ID is required. Spectators will need to park at Immanual Baptist Church on Saturday. Shuttles will run to and from the event. Sunday parking will be in Whispering Pines Campground. Live entertainment on Saturday: Faded Travelers, Michael Armstrong, Chad Nickell & The Loose Change and Steele Country.
